Active Release Techniques® Upper Extremity Level 1

SEMINAR OVERVIEW
ART Upper Extremity Level 1 provides evidence-based instruction of the necessary skills to detect and treat soft-tissue anomalies and dysfunctions of the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, and the surrounding structures.  Throughout the seminar, attendees review the muscle and soft-tissue structures of the upper extremities, and how to evaluate and appropriately treat the disorders using the ART Diagnostic Algorithm and 59 manual protocols.  Upper Extremity Level 1 techniques can be used to treat a broad list of dysfunctions, including frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and other soft-tissue dysfunctions.
CORE LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Recite the four basic components of ART treatment protocols.
Summarize the cellular response to ART treatment on soft-tissue structures.
Compare healthy and unhealthy tissue utilizing hands-on palpation techniques.
Identify a muscle or soft-tissue texture, tension, movement and function through palpation and patient assessment.
Palpate 59 anatomical soft-tissue structures within the upper extremity, using an appropriate tension, depth, and motion to properly perform the treatment protocol.

DELIVERY FORMAT AND METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
ART Upper Extremity Level 1 provides a hybrid learning model with online modules and in-person training. Attendees are expected to complete online preparatory materials consisting of a review of gross anatomy, explanations of the ART Diagnostic Algorithm, treatment methodology, protocol instructions, and a pre-credentialing exam. During the in-person portion of the seminar, attendees work alongside instructors and other attendees to practice palpation and treatment protocols.  After completing the online modules and 16 hours of in-person training, attendees will demonstrate their skills through a practical exam to determine if they meet minimum certification requirements to employ ART treatment to patients.
Friday: 7:30am–6:00pm (Introduction, Forearm, Wrist, and Hand)
Saturday: 8:00am–6:00pm (Upper Arm and Shoulder)
Sunday: 8:00am–12:00pm*
*Individual testing occurs in 20-minute increments between 8:00am and 12:00pm (please plan travel accordingly).
